Fibromyalgia
Living with chronic pain is a miserable situation to be in, and patients who suffer from Fibromyalgia know about chronic pain all too well. Even though fibromyalgia sufferers are from all ethnic groups and cultures, the disease is more prevalent in woman over men by 9 to 1. Symptoms can vary, but mainly consist of widespread pain, fatigue, and cognitive difficulties. These are just a few of the common symptoms that are presented throughout the lives of most patients who are suffering from fibromyalgia.
Chronic Pain and Its Impact on Life:
When a person is in pain, the thought of doing any activity is not high on their priority list. Usually moving as little as possible so that the pain does not radiate throughout the body is preferred to moving around and suffering. Relief from fibromyalgia is constantly on the minds of all the patients who suffer from this ailment because their life is full of pain and there is typically little to no quality of life. Thankfully, chiropractic care has made huge strides in not only relieving the symptoms of Fibromyalgia, but being made available to individuals suffering from it. Chiropractic care has been shown to assist in neurotransmitters communicating with the brain better, leading to less pain and more comfort, particularly for those suffering from nerve pain from fibromyalgia.
Chiropractic Studies for Relief:
Studies are reporting a correlation between subluxations at the c1 atlas vertebra and issues with fibromyalgia. One chiropractor conducted a study in which he treated a patient with Fibromyalgia for six months. The evaluation at the end of that period was extremely promising because the patient was reporting a complete resolution to her fibromyalgia symptoms. It goes to reason that relieving a subluxation and restoring structural integrity to the spine and blood flow to the nerves would help to relieve the pain related to the symptoms, and the complete resolution was encouraging in that regard.
Relief After 15 Years of Suffering:
Another patient who had been suffering from fibromyalgia for over 15 years complained of tender spots with widespread pain in her muscles and tendons. She sought out chiropractic care after hearing of the improvements that other patients were seeing. Her chiropractic care took place over a 12-week period with spinal adjustments made to correct a vertebral subluxation. After the treatments were completed, she reported dramatic improvements of her symptoms and fewer issues with pain in her muscles and tendons.
